All of the IMAGINE adventures have three parts: A story, somewhere to explore and an interactive or activity.
This is an alternative version of the Bobbi the Backpacker adventure. We have provided alternative versions of all the adventures to make sure that visitors who do not have the Macromedia Flash Plugin, or visitors using text-only or specialist browsers can still view the content.
Masks have been worn by people for thousands of years from ancient times through to the present day. Masks can be found all over the world from the North West coast of America to Japan and the Far East. They can be very varied in appearance, function and meaning.
In tribal societies such as those in Africa, North America, Asia and the Pacific, masks are mainly used in ceremonies that have a religious or social importance. They can also be used at funerals, to cure illness, or in fertility or initiation rites. Masks can also be used agricultural ceremonies in agriculturally-based communities. Other masks are used in theatrical dramas and dances.
