The IMAGINE site is separated into four main sections: Search, Adventure, About and Contact. You can go to any of these sections from every page of the IMAGINE site by selecting the appropriate link. You can return to the homepage at any time by selecting the IMAGINE logo.
The main navigation links are normally displayed in the top right corner of the page underneath the IMAGINE logo. If you are using a special web browser or an older browser the main navigation will be at the top of the page.
Each page features a link to jump to the navigation bar and a link to jump to the top of the content of the page.
The site has been designed to be as helpful as possible and easy to navigate, if you have any problems please Contact Us.
The Macromedia Flash plugin is used to display some of the videos and interactives on the IMAGINE site and on other sites on the web. You can find out more and download a free copy of the plugin from the Macromedia Flash website.
If you have the Macromedia Flash plugin you can use the fully interactive version of the adventures on the IMAGINE site. If you do not have the plugin, or if you prefer, you can use the alternative version which shows the text and images only.
The interactive versions of the adventures are controlled by pointing, clicking and dragging with your mouse or pointing device inside the adventure window. Each adventure has instructions at the start and explains what to do at each stage. If you hold your pointer over a button in the adventure window, a tip will appear explaining what that button does.
You can navigate the alternative versions of the adventures just like the rest of the IMAGINE website.
The IMAGINE website has been designed to be accessible. Some of the accessibility features that have been included in the IMAGINE site are: access keys, resizable text and British Sign Language (BSL) introductions.
For more information on the accessibility of IMAGINE and instructions on using the accessibility features please visit the accessibility section.
Each type of search looks at the information in the IMAGINE database in a different way.
The quick search matches the words that you are searching with words in the database. It will even try and correct your spelling.
The specialised search is designed to always give some results. Select a category from dropdown lists to narrow down your search.
The picture search lets you try our experimental drawing tool. Draw a simple picture with your mouse to find objects that look similar to your drawing.
The random search quickly selects 20 objects for you to look at. This means you can browse the IMAGINE database without typing a single word.
